Getting to McCormick Place

By Air

Chicago is served by two major airports:

  • O’Hare International Airport (ORD) – ~45 minutes by car
  • Midway International Airport (MDW) – ~30 minutes by car


Airport transportation options include:

  • Taxi & rideshare (Uber, Lyft)
  • CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) trains
  • Rental cars
  • Shared airport shuttles


Tip: Midway is typically faster for reaching McCormick Place due to traffic volume.

Public Transportation

The Metra Electric Line stops directly at McCormick Place via the McCormick Place Station, located below the South Building.

  • From downtown (Millennium Station), it’s a 7-minute ride.
  • CTA bus and ‘L’ train connections available throughout the city.

Shuttle Service

Complimentary shuttle service will be available between the official IEEE PES T&D hotels in the housing block and McCormick Place.

  • Shuttle stops and schedules will be posted in April 2026.
  • Service runs during peak conference hours.

  • Wheelchair access is available throughout the venue
  • Elevators, ramps, and accessible parking available
  • Onsite scooter rental will be available in select lobbies
