Student Housing Program

The Student Housing Support Program provides free accommodation for the conference up to 4 nights to students in the conference hotels to assist with travel expenses. Applications for the Student Housing Support Program are accepted through the online portal:

  • Submission site
  • Submission deadline for housing support: 29 February 2024
    • Students must also register by this date.
    • Faculty/supervisor recommendations are needed as part of the application process.
  • Notice of acceptance: 15 March 2024

Student Poster Contest

The Student Poster Session & Contest allow students to present their research, share ideas, and receive feedback from peers, faculty, and industry experts. Students also have the opportunity of being recognized with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place student poster awards in the undergraduate and graduate student categories. Students wishing to be considered for the student poster contest must submit a 1 page extended abstract in PDF format, written according to IEEE template. Graduate and Undergraduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts pertaining to research and/or senior design projects.

Applications for the submissions of poster abstracts for inclusion in the Student Poster Session & Contest are accepted through the online portal:

Enhancing Power and Energy Education Through PES Workforce Initiative

This panel session will showcase the various programs and activities that the PES Workforce Initiative offers for students and young professionals who are interested in pursuing or advancing their careers in the power and energy sector. The panelists will highlight the benefits of participating in events such as the Student Congress, the Career and Professional Development Webinar Series, the Mentoring Program, and the Awards and Scholarships Program. They will also answer questions from the audience and provide advice on how to get involved with the PES Workforce Initiative.

Young Professionals Panel Session
Wednesday, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
The IEEE Young Professionals Panel is a one-hour session that features four panelists who are young professionals working in different sectors of engineering. The panelists will share their career paths, challenges, opportunities, and advice for aspiring engineers. The session will also include a Q&A segment where the audience can ask questions and interact with the panelists. The panel session aims to provide a platform for IEEE members and non-members to network with each other and learn from the perspectives of young professionals in the engineering field.

Student Tour of SCE’s Fenwick Labs
Thursday, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
The Southern California Edison’s Fenwick Labs is a state-of-the-art facility that conducts research and development on various aspects of energy generation, transmission, distribution, and usage. The student tour of the SCE’s Fenwick Labs will give participants a chance to see some of the cutting-edge projects and experiments that are being conducted at the lab, as well as learn about the careers and opportunities in the energy industry.
